The Guardianship Journal

Formatting Requirements

APA 7th edition is required for ALL submissions. For more information on APA, please see APA 7th Edition.

Language & Grammar:

All submissions must be in English. Set the language and spellcheck style to ‘English (US)’. The use of foreign words and phrases should be avoided unless the topic requires such use. Foreign terms that appear on a rare and occasional basis should be set in italics. Authors should use proper, standard English grammar.

Headings:

For ALL headings and subheadings, follow the APA 7th edition rules. For more information on headings, please see APA 7th Edition Headings.

Fonts:

Except when special symbols or graphic elements are needed, use Times New Roman-12 font.

Tables and Figures:

All tables and figures used must follow APA 7th edition. For more information, please see APA 7th Edition Tables and Figures.

Alt Text:

If a manuscript is accepted for publication, the authors will be asked to provide alt text for all images: photos, graphs, charts, figures, et cetera. Alt-text is a concise (ideally 25-30 word) visual description of an image used by screen readers that enable people to listen to a publication rather than read it. More information about alt-text and best practices for writing it is available at Purdue's LibGuide on Accessibility, as well as elsewhere on the internet. This is a particularly good resource for constructing alt-text for charts and graphs.

Supplying alt text is a mandatory responsibility of the authors, and no work will be published without it.
