Event Description/Abstract
The focus of this presentation is the FAA’s and Asphalt Institute’s guidance on this topic. FAA guidance includes AC 150/5320- 6E, Airport Pavement Design and Evaluation, specifically Section 405: Overlays of Existing Rigid Pavements. Two research projects from the Airfield Asphalt Pavement Technology Program (AAPTP) will be heavily referenced, with an emphasis on airfield rubblization. Other specific rehabilitation techniques to be discussed are sawcut and seal, various interlayers, and crack/break and seat. Design and construction best practices will be emphasized.
