Event Description/Abstract
Sidewalk construction work zones should be accessible to and provide safe, continuous guidance for all pedestrians, yet most sidewalk work zones are neither accessible nor safe. In this session we will review MUTCD and ADA guidelines and specifications and discuss devices and practices used to achieve compliance and accessibility. We will compare actual work zone practices to ADA requirements and applicable local specifications. Three sidewalk work zone case studies will be presented.
