Abstract
This artifact highlights the importance of creating access and opportunity through teaching. In their interview, Dr. Kazemi and Dr. Ghousseini mentioned how important it is to teach teachers how to respect and understand various religious, ethinic, political, and cultural backgrounds. Both Dr. Kazemi and Dr. Ghousseini come from cultural backgrounds that are not commonly represented in mathematics and teaching in the United States. Because of this, it is important to them to create learning environments that embrace all students to help them learn and get interested in subjects such as mathematics. This artifact addresses current access and opportunity issues in education and how these issues can be eliminated or helped through bettering teacher education.
