Library services have strengthened in responding relevance towards new realities facing research-led universities in the 21st century. The dawn of the digital era ushers in new technologies, augmented realities, research practices and culture, announcing the birth of resilient leadership. How can Library Leaders respond to bridge the research divide and build the 4th industrial revolution (IR) in universities? Academic libraries re-aligned post COVID 19, to fulfil the mandates of the research-intensive university goals: Enhancing the student experience; Supporting learning and teaching; Enhancing research and innovation. In connecting possibilities of the research-led universities, academic library services have strengthened its digital services programs/skills and resources for encompassing 4th IR practices to leverage student success. The aim of this paper is to delve into resilient library leadership principles prevalent for the 21st century new normal. This paper focuses on the dire need to re-aligned strategic intent for leveraging open access, multi-disciplined e-research and changing research/er culture and practices for connecting possibilities in the 4th IR. The author outlines critical pathways eminent in the literature and personal experiences to realign to the changing IR realities e.g. Big Data, the internet of things; Open science; augmented realities which foster strong partnerships to enrich leadership in promoting sustainable development goals (SDG) agenda 2030. The paper is of relevance to leadership and management, fostering effective partnerships for redesigning a purposive research culture in a digital university. The paper offers a transformational perspective for library leaders to embrace the 4th IR post COVID 19 in higher education.
