Description

The vision of the Information and Library Science Undergraduate Study Program at Airlangga University is to become an innovative, responsive and moral study program to answer the challenges of the dynamics of the information revolution and the development of society globally. We produce Bachelor of Library and Information Sciences (BLIS) who have succeeded in becoming leaders and managers of libraries available in Indonesia. We develop curriculum in response to scientific developments, market needs, and dynamic societal behavior. BLIS graduates also have job opportunities in government, business, and industry. One of the results of curriculum development and efforts to achieve learning outcomes (LO) is to provide entrepreneurship-based courses. This course is a response to encourage graduates to compete in the local and global job market. This course is not a compulsory subject, but an elective course that students can take at least in the 3rd semester and total 3 credits. The learning achievement of this course is that graduates are expected to become managers and organizers who are able to have an entrepreneurial mindset and are able to have competitiveness for their own businesses. The skills provided include applying entrepreneurial characteristics as a manager of information services and an entrepreneurial mindset in the library and information business field. There are three approaches to the learning method, the first is lectures. The second approach is through practicum, namely students making business products based on information and technology, such as storytelling books, literacy lamps and others. Students are required to sell these products commercially, the aim is to train and provide experience in planning a business, and managing business information products. The third is field trips, where students are invited to tour and visit companies and commercial institutions, the aim is to provide students with insight and experience in managing a business.
