Maker Space, Micro Manufacturing, Maker Education Movements: Designing Community Platforms
Description
In collaboration with Ruckus, a maker space in Indianapolis, Purdue Industrial Design has developed “Wonder Makerspace,” a design tech lab. Our goal was to create technology-based maker tools that are accessible, adaptable and approachable for community members interested in learning new skills and starting small businesses. Now, more than 30 startup makers from art, design and engineering backgrounds are learning design tech at Wonder and applying their new knowledge to product development and prototyping processes. This talk will highlight the project and discuss how we are moving to the next level of maker movement, Micro Manufacturing and Maker Education.
