Event Description/Abstract
The Northeast Extreme Tee (NEXT) beam cross section was developed by the Northeast Chapter of PCI as an alternative to adjacent box beams in the 45-ft to 90-ft span ranges. The first bridge constructed with these new beams opened in York, Maine in November 2010, and INDOT presented the concept of these new beams at the Bridge Design Conference in 2016. INDOT is currently moving forward with three design projects to demonstrate the applications of these new beam shapes, which will be an additional alternative for short- to mid-span bridges across the state.
