Abstract
This presentation disseminates the results of a national survey on the current use of contrast pavement markings. The results identified the wide use of contrast pavement markings at the national level, and that many states are moving towards a standardization of use on certain roadways. Using a data-driven approach, crash reducing benefits in the form of crash modification factors were developed at the national level and can be used in conjunction with the Highway Safety Manual.
