Abstract

This is the story of a very aggressive construction season in Marion County, Indiana, resulting from extreme winter damage on and around I-465: how we bundled the contracts into lettable packages, overcame a rainy May and June with schedule modifications, and accomplished so much while protecting the workers. Work zone safety will be discussed—in particular the challenges of back-of-queue crashes—and a summary of results and future actions for INDOT and industry will be presented.
