Abstract
INDOT, similar to many municipalities, has developed structured methods to not only inspect assets, but to identify deficiencies in an extremely efficient manner. This has led to multiple metrics for tracking customer service resolutions, bridge and large culvert hit rates, and other similar type performance standards. While technology for data collection and analysis are heavily weighed to meet agency goals, the need for out of the box solutions has grown immensely. Going beyond the metrics, many field personnel are tasked with keeping INDOT assets functioning for the safety and mobility of the public. This has pushed INDOT to the NEXT level where the question is not if we can resolve the issue, but how. Various maintenance projects from the last 5 years show that innovation is alive and well within INDOT Maintenance.
