Short Abstract:

The country of Switzerland is ranked among the worldwide top Innovation ecosystems. Full Abstract:

The country of Switzerland is ranked among the worldwide top Innovation ecosystems. Owing to its unique Swiss dual education system, the network of Applied Science Universities plays a central role for industrial innovation and technology transfer. Technical depth, interdisciplinary thinking, cross-cultural fluency and international experience are common industrial job requirements. The Department of Industrial Engineering at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (LUASA) has had Internationalisation as one of its key growth strategies ever since its inception in 2007. This has resulted in over 40 University partnerships globally, fuelled by a very successful undergraduate exchange program with 90% of students studying at least one semester abroad during their Bachelor studies. The new Institute of Innovation & Technology Management at LUASA has been created to strengthen the field of Industrial Engineering across teaching, applied research and continued education. The new MSc Business Engineering program for instance, has an even stronger focus towards applied industrial research projects and can be entirely studied in English. As a consequence of these new opportunities the internationalisation strategy is now moving from an undergraduate student exchange program towards select strategic partnerships, fuelled by collaborations across several academic areas including innovative teaching formats, collaborative research, faculty exchange and joint degrees.
