About This Journal

It is widely recognized that one of the most effective tools for generating excitement among undergraduates is to include them in fundamental research, a proven and powerful practice for enhancing educational outcomes and expanding frontiers of knowledge. There is a vibrant culture of undergraduate research at Purdue which is highlighted during the spring semester at the Undergraduate Research and Poster Symposium hosted by the Colleges of Science, Agriculture, Engineering, and Technology, along with the College of Science Student Council. In 2009 there were over 150 posters presented by undergraduate students from across schools and disciplines to show off their research efforts. Similar events are mounted by other centers and departments. The aim of establishing JPUR is to further encourage the development of undergraduate research at Purdue by showcasing the best work in a more tangible, centralized, and public way than is currently done.
