Abstract

The pandemic has had drastic effects on the economy, with supplemental programs such as the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) put in place to help those obtain unemployment insurance. Racial disparities involving unemployment insurance continued after the COVID pandemic. In this paper, the effects of the supplemental programs and unemployment insurance are discussed as a motivation for the reformation of unemployment insurance to obliterate the racial disparities within it.
