Abstract

HAEFFNERS MODEL, RESEARCH POLICY, INFORMATION FLOW, COMMUNICATIONS ABILITY, COMMUNICATION MEDIA MIX, INFORMATION MINDEDNESS DATABASES, INSPEC, ISMEC, MECHEN, DOMA, COMPENDEX, SAIDC-ST

Haeffners model of information flow and communication between research policy and implementation activities was transferred on integrated information flow between research, education, consuiting and informatics on one side, and the end-user on the other side.

For information flow neither the availability of documents, computers and communications, nor the information mindedness are sufficient, but the human activity is dominant.

Databases are in different fields of application differently aggregated and representative (Comparison between CHEMABS, INSPEC, ISMEC, COMPENDEX).

The information field in mechanical engineering is very messy and represented by several databases. Comparison bet ween ISMEC, MECHEN, DOMA, and SAIDC-ST databases. Proposals for building a common, representative database for mechanical and industrial engineering.
