The Graduate Industrial Research Symposium (GIRS) is a multidisciplinary conference meant for graduate students from primarily the College of Engineering and College of Agriculture to showcase their work as it relates to connections between research and industry. The event has been hosted annually by the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Graduate Student Association (ABE GSA) since 2013. Beginning in 2023, posters and abstracts presented at GIRS became available through Purdue e-pubs to in order to share the work with the wider academic community.
The theme of the 2024 GIRS is Advancing Technology: From Models to Molecules, Machines, and More and includes the following research areas of interest:
- Engineering the machines of tomorrow
- Creating the Farm of the Future
- Preserving our Shared Natural Resources
- Utilizing biosystems for lasting solutions
