A study of the effect of total pressure on the emissivity of carbon dioxide
Abstract
The monochromatic absorptivity of carbon dioxide was measured at room temperature and for total pressures from one-quarter to three atmospheres. The total emissivity at room temperature was calculated from the monochromatic absorptivity values obtained, also the total absorptivity for the gas at temperatures of 504°F and 1000°F was calculated. The results of this study were then compared with data obtained in a different manner from previous work. Since this work was to be only a starting point for future work, both previous theoretical considerations and recommendations have been included.
