Development of triflone-based carbon-carbon bond formation

Jason Shaoyun Xiang, Purdue University

Abstract

Reported herein are the discovery and development of triflone-based carbon-carbon bond formation. Pertinent highlights of the above stated synthesis include (1) the stereo- and regiospecific synthesis of $\alpha$- and $\beta$-substituted vinyl and dienyl triflones (2) the investigation of the mechanism of the new C-H bond functionalization via acetylenic triflone (3) extending the C-H bond functionalization into the domain of vinyl triflones, heteroatom-functionalized triflones, silicon substituted alkynyl triflone and allyl triflones (4) the chemospecific alkynylation of organic iodides. Success in this area has opened the door for utilization of this methodology for facile construction of more complex molecules.
