Phase structure of quantum field models of electroweak symmetry breaking and of non-fermi liquids
Abstract
Results on the phase structure of two models are presented. First, evidence for the absence of fixed points at strong coupling in a class of $U(2)\times U(2)$ models is reported. This is used to rule out some models of dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking. Second, the behavior of the fermion-fermion interaction in a non-Fermi liquid model are derived. The interaction is shown to be enhanced by an effective gauge interaction.
