Gravity load and resistance factor design guidelines for high clearance scaffold systems
Abstract
Many studies reveal the same information: the failure during the construction period of a reinforced concrete structure is much more likely than that during the service period, especially for temporary structures when concrete is being placed. The scaffold systems are often used as high clearance temporary supports during the placement of concrete. The aims of this thesis are to develop practical guidelines for the design and provide a monitoring system for the construction of scaffold systems to ensure a safe operation. To this end, the entire research is divided into two parts: load effect and system resistance parts. Both parts were studied by performing basic experiments and making model analysis. Against the background of this information, practical design guidelines and a monitoring system have been proposed.
