An elastic/viscoplastic constitutive model for fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites
Abstract
A constitutive model to describe the rate dependent stress/strain behavior of fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites is presented. Formulations are given for anisotropic elasticity, quasistatic plasticity and time dependent viscoplasticity. The generalized multiaxial case along with the uniaxial case for orthotropic materials are derived. Verification of these theories is accomplished by comparison with experimental data. Procedures required to generate this data along with the necessary material constants are explained, and the use of these constants in the constitutive equations is discussed.
