A STUDY OF NONLINEAR REALIZATIONS OF SUPERSYMMETRY

JOHN FRANKLIN ALVAREZ, Purdue University

Abstract

We compute the non-linear effective Lagrangian obtained from the (tree-level) spontaneously broken O'Raifeartaigh model using non-linear splitting-form superfields. The coupling of the non-linear Goldstone fermion (Akulov-Volkov field) to all spectator fields in the O'Raifeartaigh model and to itself is explicitly calculated. The non-renormalizable effective Lagrangian so obtained recovers the correct pure Goldstone fermion zero-momentum decoupling limit, and exhibits the underlying dynamics of the O'Raifeartaigh model through the universality of the couplings between spectator fields and the derivatively-coupled Goldstone fermion.
