THE DIOPHANTINE PROBLEM FOR ADDITION AND DIVISIBILITY IN POLYNOMIAL RINGS (DECIDABILITY, UNDECIDABILITY)
Abstract
In this work it is proved that the existential problem in a polynomial ring in one variable over a field is decidable if the existential theory of the field is decidable. It is also proved that various extensions of the problem are undecidable.
