CONNECTION OF CONTINUOUS ELEMENTS BY THE RECEPTANCE METHOD
Abstract
Many shell/plate type structures are combinations of basic shell/plate elements. Several methods of evaluating the vibrational characteristics of such combinations have been developed. A useful approach discussed in detail for the lumped parameter and beam/shaft systems and not used extensively in the analysis of plate or shell type structures is the receptance method. In the present study, the receptance method is employed to calculate the vibrational characteristics of multi-span rectangular plates connected in one direction and hollow box type structures. Also, receptances have been derived for the case of multi-span rectangular plates connected in two directions.
