SEPARATION OF REACTION CHANNELS IN HEAVY-ION INDUCED COMPOUND-NUCLEAR REACTIONS: LEVELS OF RHODIUM-104 POPULATED BY MOLYBDENUM-100(LITHIUM-7, 3N)RHODIUM-104
Abstract
A large solid-angle proton-gamma coincidence system was developed which proved remarkably successful in separating the reaction channels in a ('7)Li induced reaction. In addition to identifying the proton reaction channel, the system was able to clearly separate several reaction channels which were due to break-up of the incident lithium particles. This significantly reduced the complexity of the data by allowing the unambiguous identification of those gamma rays which originated in the ('104)Rh nucleus. With the aid of this identification, the ('104)Rh level scheme could be constructed. The results of this analysis show that ('104)Rh does fit into the known systematics of the mass-100 region.
