A FIELD SPECTRORADIOMETER FOR REMOTE SENSING APPLICATIONS
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to study the design principles of field spectroradiometers for remote sensing applications and to produce a design that would lead to the design and construction of a cost effective instrument. The basic problem of remote sensing radiation measurement is described and quantized. System and instrument performance specifications are derived and presented. The effects of environmental parameters on system performance are included. A detailed discussion is given on spectroradiometer performance as influenced by basic radiation theory principles. Design compromises in view of available optical and electronic components are given. Basic performance and design equations are included. A proposed spectroradiometer system is presented. Anticipated system performance is given along details of system layout. A mathematical model with its computer implementation is used to evaluate the system design. Complete analysis of dispersion and slit functions are included. The final instrument design is discussed that led to the construction of a working instrument.
