INSPECTOR ALLOCATION IN A PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT
Abstract
A readily applicable methodology for the assignment of inspectors in a finite lot production environment does not exist. A heuristic that requires only minimal information is proposed and evaluated through the use of computer simulation. It can be implemented in a few minutes using only a standard normal table, a calculator, and data defining the natural tolerance limits of each lot-producing process, the lot size, specifications and piece value for all lots.
