Nonlinear Instability of Frames
Abstract
An incremental load procedure is developed to investigate the elasto-plastic behavior of rectangular plane rigid frames. stability is examined. InelasticThe procedure includes the effects of yielding, residual stresses, spread of the inelastic zones in beam and columns, deformations andJoint displacements. The effect of axial force in the beam of the frame as well as in the columns is also included. The deformed shape (deflec- tions, rotations) of the frame and the tractions at every load level are obtained. Resistance of the frame to sidesway movement is calculated. Ultimate and critical loads are obtained.Application is then made to specific examples.
