ANGULAR DISTRIBUTIONS OF PROTONS AND DEUTERONS FROM THE REACTIONS CARBON-12(HELIUM-3,PROTON)NITROGEN-14 AND CARBON-12(HELIUM-3,DEUTERON) NITROGEN-13 AT 13.9 MEV, CARBON-12(ALPHA, PROTON)NITROGEN-15 AT 16.1-19.0MEV, AND FLUORINE-19(ALPHA,PROTON)NEON-22 AT 18.9 MEV
Abstract
Angular distributions have been measured for the re- actions C12 C12 (He³,p₁)N14, C12 (He³, do) N1, C12 (α, Po) N15, and F19 (X, P₁)Ne 22. The external, focused, and energy-analyzed 14-Mev He3-particle beam and 19-Mev alpha-particle beam from the Purdue University cyclotron were used to induce the reactions. The reaction products were detected in a CsI(Tl) scintillation spectrometer and recorded in a conventional twenty-channel pulse height analyzer. The protons were identified by absorbing out, or sufficiently degrading the energy of, all other shorter range reaction products before striking the CsI(Tl) crystal.
