Development of DIPHOS(O) as a bis -Horner reagent and model studies towards the synthesis of C12–C23 polyene fragment of rhizoxin D

Salvacion Tabara Cacatian, Purdue University

Abstract

Bisphosphorane reagents, useful for the synthesis of conjugated polyenes, have not been extensively utilized. We have developed bis(diphenylphosphine) ethane monoxide DIPHOS(O) as a bisphosphorane reagent which leads to an asymmetric conjugated diene via a double Homer olefination reaction. The details and model studies on the application of DIPHOS(O) towards the synthesis of Rhizoxin D is discussed.
