The development and application of the contiguous chiral carbon catalog (4C)

Jerry B. Evarts, Purdue University

Abstract

The Development and Application of the Contiguous Chiral Carbon Catalog (4C), a new general method for asymmetric synthesis is described herein. Three major projects are involved in this area: (1) Short, efficient synthesis of γ-hydroxycyclohex-2-en-1-one; (2) Synthesis of γ-alkylcyclohex-2-en-1-ones; (3) Synthesis of the A-ring of 1α, 25-dihydroxycalcitriol, Vitamin D3.
