Asymmetric approach toward the total synthesis of antibiotic IKD-8344
Abstract
An asymmetric approach toward the total synthesis of antibiotic IKD-8344 via vinyl sulfone methodology is described herein. Four major projects are involved in this area: (1) Stereoselective epoxidation of dienyl sulfones; (2) SN2′ methylation of vinyl sulfones; (3) Oxidative cleavage of vinyl sulfones; (4) Efficient syntheses of sidechain-functionalized tetrahydrofurans.
