Water quantity and water quality trend analysis in northwest Indiana using modified Mann Kendall test
Abstract
In this thesis work, efforts were made to use Mann-Kendal test, a non-parametric trend test method, to examine regional water quantity as well as water quality trends. A new approach called Seasonal Regional MK test was developed and used in this work. This new modeling approach was used to study the northwest Indiana water quality and water withdrawals data. The research indicates the usefulness of new proposed approach. The newly proposed Seasonal Regional Mann-Kendall test provides advantages such as individual seasonal based trend characteristics as well as regional trend characteristics in a more efficient way than regular regional test. This work is also suitable for analyzing multiple hydrologic variables together with ease.
