Intelligent autonomous mobile wireless broadband linear expansion & route optimization

Cory-Khoi Q Nguyen, Purdue University

Abstract

Mesh wireless networking and robotics have remained separate, yet, established fields for quite some time. However, with the ever-changing needs of society, it has become inevitable that the two fields have integrated with one another to help address new challenges that have arisen. The study and research of mobile wireless broadband as applied to robotics has emerged as an area of particular interest as its ability to provide communication and information is applicable to many real-world scenarios. This research addresses a specific problem with mesh networking as it applies to autonomous robotics, by autonomously and intelligently optimizing the delivery of network traffic between robots by reducing the hop count over which that network traffic traditionally traverses.
