Project delivery selection model for construction project owners

Nawa Mwiya, Purdue University

Abstract

Building construction project Owners are faced with the challenge of fast tracked projects and tight budget restrictions, but sometimes lack the knowledge to make decisions that can ease these project stresses. The project delivery selection model (PDSmodel), developed through this research is designed to educate, guide, and facilitate the owner's decision for a best project delivery method. In order for this PDSmodel to effectively assist the Owner, two learning objectives should be accomplished. First, the PDSmodel must give the Owner the understanding of each project delivery options; and second the PDSmodel must give the Owner guidance to the project selection delivery process. This model will assist the owner through the pre-design and pre-construction phase to increase the success of project completion. This thesis outlines the research, development and use of this PDSmodel for project delivery selection.
