Abstract
This thesis is a collection of short stories and a novella set among the river flats, eateries, and scrubland of Brevard County, Florida. Spanning generations and families, these tales serve as a fiction encyclopedia of this strange place with its tourist traps and rare wildlife, its loneliness and sudden myths, the estuaries that lend themselves to the intermingling of otherwise-alien species, and its people—transplants all, downers, dreamers.^
