Student attitudes towards sustainability and climate change issues on a midwestern university campus: Case study

Magdalena Lech, Purdue University

Abstract

There is a lack of awareness of what tools related to human behavior might be used to communicate climate change and facilitate behavior change in the university community at large. Policy administrators find it challenging to communicate to the public issues that are uncertain. To manage social change effectively in any university community, one of the conditions is to first determine what are the constituents' attitudes towards or about the issue at hand, e.g. climate change. Purdue University students have been recently exposed to an enhanced activity in the sustainability and green area on the campus. This study was conducted among Midwestern University students to assess students' attitudes towards sustainability and climate change issues.
