Consumers' Intentions for Healthy Eating & its Relationship to Restaurants Located in Areas of National Parks

Yi Zhang, Purdue University

Abstract

Customers are acting with increasing awareness and willingness to eat healthily. Studies have demonstrated that physical environment or atmosphere will affect customers’ behavior. For example, exposure to outdoor or natural environments can facilitate experiences of vitality, restoration and self-control. This study examined whether the environmental setting for the vacation ?a national park as compared to an urban area) will have an impact on customers’ intentions for healthy eating as a tourist. The differences in intention to practice healthy eating among different ages, genders, marital status, education level and income level was also explored.
