Second language reading and writing connections for K-5 ELLS

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the relationships between second language reading and writing and valuable teaching strategies to improve both skills for foreign or second language learners, especially young age group of students from kindergarten to fifth grade. One of the hypotheses of this study is that reading and writing skills have significant positive correlations, so this thesis explores and expands the evidence and aspects about the strong relationships between the reading and writing skills. In addition, meaningful pedagogical implications regarding reading-writing connections and teaching strategies for the L2 young children K-5 are investigated and suggested in this thesis.
