Event Description/Abstract
The Illinois Tollway I-90 bridge over the Kishwaukee River is a jointless four-span weathering steel plate girder structure. The 630-foot-long bridge is the longest IAB in Illinois and among the longest in the United States. The bridge required special structural analysis to model soil-structure interaction, pile, and superstructure behavior and was instrumented to validate the prediction of the 3D structural model to develop design and detailing criteria. Construction photos and lessons learned will be presented.
