Abstract
A bridge in downtown Richmond, IN has recently been designed by Parsons. A special type of bearing, disc bearing, was selected for this bridge due to site constraints. Disc bearings have rarely been used in Indiana, especially in combination with girder superstructure. This presentation intends to provide a broad view of the behavior of these bearing devices and the reasoning for selecting them.
