Abstract
Accelerated bridge construction (ABC) and prefabri- cated bridge elements and systems (PBES) are gaining popularity in the U.S. boast the advantages of rapid construction, less traffic disruption, improved quality and durability, improved safety, and fewer environmen- tal impacts. This presentation will introduce ABC and PBES, provide a practical guide to integrating precast concrete elements in ABC applications, and review case studies of how various DOTs have achieved success.
