This artifact will be in the form of a PowerPoint that gives background on image-guided microsurgery using robots. For those outside of the medical field, image-guided micro-surgical robotics might sound complex. This system is used to make the healing process easier on patients. Surgery used to consist of surgeons using their hands and huge instruments to operate. To use these instruments, large incisions were required on the patient. A smaller incision will lead to less blood loss, shorter recovery, less scarring, and less pain than a traditional surgery would require. The combination of advanced imaging and precise robotics has allowed surgeons to have this ability for certain surgeries.
