Description

This paper describes the foundation and development of the Netherlands Association of Online Systems. This is now a recognized, independent organization, with over 150 members. It promotes cooperation in such fields as education and training, cost evaluation, database and systems evaluation, design of search strategies and the availability of business information. Examples of the work of the Association are given, together with plans for future developments such as in the development of internal databases, and teletext systems. The need for international cooperation in the on-line world is discussed. Effective communication channels between users, both nationally and internationally, will be necessary in order to fully utilize the information handling possibilities created by the "computer revolution".
