Abstract

Current-control strategies for a three-phase four-pole brushless dc motor are developed and analyzed. The brushless dc motor and the voltage-fed inverter used in the system are first described. Voltage control through pulse width modulation is presented and then the current-controlled brushless dc drive system is examined in detail. A relationship between the inverter source voltage magnitude and the motor’s parameters is determined. Feedback control schemes are studied, and lastly the dynamic performance using computer simulation is presented.
