A vectorized source algorithm was developed to replace the existing calculation in the nodal core neutronics code SIMULATE-E. The code was developed for applications to LWR fuel management and was coded for optimal performance on the CDC-6000 series scalar computers. The code was adapted to the CYBER 205 vector computer at Purdue University for use on the CYBER scalar processor. Several automatic vectorization methods were applied unsuccessfully to the source calculation subroutine. The vectorized version resulted in an improvement of 60-70% in the computational speed compared to the original scalar version with no loss in computational accuracy.
