Description

Design skills are diverse abilities intentionally used by designers to achieve desired goals in specific design scenarios. However, very little is known about how design skills are manifested, expressed or encouraged in a design review conversation. This study uses the multiple intelligence framework to map and analyze design skills of four different review conversations by the interaction between instructor, student and the clients. The findings reveal that consistency and endurance in skill application is more critical than the frequency and duration of skill application for successful design outcomes. Moreover, skill diversity and alignment of student skill-set with instructor and client skill-set is critical to success.
