Calculating the meaning of unattested adjectives
Abstract
Manual acquisition of static knowledge resources for Ontology-Lexicon systems requires significant man-hours to complete. In addition, new words are constantly coming into every day usage. As a result, it is important to have as many automated acquisition processes as possible. Until now, no attempts have been made at automating the acquisition process. A method is proposed here for automatically acquiring adjective senses for unattested words. Experimental results show that the method is largely successful at acquiring the two most common senses of the tested words.
