    Abstract

ICONS 2026, the International Conference on Advances in Engineering and Technology for Sustainable Development, provides a broader academic platform for research and innovation in engineering, construction, technology, and sustainable development. Held in conjunction with CIB W099 and W123, ICONS 2026 highlights the importance of connecting technological advancement with human-centred and environmentally responsible development.

The conference theme, “Empowering People, Protecting the Planet, Unlocking Possibilities”, reflects this integrated vision. It emphasizes that sustainable development in the built environment cannot be achieved through engineering solutions alone, but must also protect workers, improve wellbeing, promote decent work, support healthier workplaces, and strengthen the resilience of communities and organisations.

The ICONS tracks address advanced construction, sustainable materials, human performance, smart and creative cities, human health, and resilience. Together with the CIB W099 and W123 tracks, these themes create a comprehensive forum for discussing how engineering and construction can contribute to a more sustainable, equitable, and people-centred future.

All submitted papers were subject to a double-blind peer-review process by the Scientific Committee. The review process was intended to ensure academic quality, originality, methodological soundness, relevance to the conference themes, and contribution to knowledge and practice.
