Abstract
Workplace safety is fundamental to the successful delivery of construction projects, and the organizational safety climate (OSC) is widely recognized as a key driver of safety performance. A comprehensive understanding of safety climate requires examining the dynamic interactions among OSC drivers that shape employees' perceptions and behaviors. Accordingly, this study investigates the interaction effects among OSC drivers using a social network analysis (SNA) approach. These drivers were identified through an extensive literature review, and expert opinions were collected through a network survey. The resulting data were analyzed using SNA to examine interactions among the OSC drivers. The analysis revealed that ‘safety-specific communication and feedback loops’ constitute the most central driver of OSC, with strong connections to the other drivers examined in the study. In addition, critical drivers such as ‘top management safety prioritization’ and ‘team support and trust’ emerged as core nodes that significantly influence other OSC drivers. Based on these findings, practical implications are proposed to inform targeted interventions that strengthen OSC resilience and reduce workplace accidents. This study advances the theoretical understanding of OSC dynamics and introduces a novel network-theoretical framework for analyzing interactions among OSC drivers within the construction industry.
